Retrofitting Your 1st Generation Z1 to Second Generation Controller - SUPER03 to SUPER03-C
If you have a First Generation Super73 Z1 and need want to upgrade/retrofit to Second Generation (more common) Controller here is how.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! - DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF YOUR TECHNICAL OR SOLDERING ABILITIES. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO AND PARTS ARE NOT RETURNABLE. WE STRONGLY ADVISE HAVING A PROFESSIONAL DO ANY REPAIRS OR MODS
You will need a new SUPER03-C Controller, A second Generation (11 pin) control cable. A link to all parts will be included at bottom.
Step 1: Remove controller from Bike
Step 2: Open both controllers by removing the 9 screws shown:

Step 3: Slide circuit board out of case

Step 4: Cut Motor cable Zip Tie (Careful to not cut anything else)

Step 5: Cut the Motor cable wires ONLY. Should be 3 large Phase wires (BLUE, YELLOW, GREEN) and 6 SMALL Hall sensor wires (BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, WHITE, BLACK, RED). BE CAREFUL TO NOT CUT ANY OTHER WIRES... Be sure to cut wires allowing enough length to splice together.

Step 6: Once you have done the above to both controllers, remove the Motor wires. Insert the First Generation Motor Wire into the New Second Generation Controller. Begin splicing/soldering each wire back. BE SURE TO USE Shrink Tubing.

Step 7: Once all wires are soldered/spliced/insulated, Reassemble unit same way you took apart.

PLEASE NOTE: First Generation Controllers usually are setup with different polarity on power connector. Be sure that the Red and Black Anderson connectors are matched up correctly before plugging in. This is why we do not snap the power connectors together until installation.

Your unit will now plug into and operate your First Generation Bike - PROVIDED you did correctly.
